The arts of design and aesthetics
I’ve always liked Asus’ TUF (“The Ultimate Force”) brand because of its simple design and focus on performance over glitzy externals like LEDs and bezels. When it comes to games, my personality doesn’t mesh with them at all. It’s up to each individual to decide whether or not they like a particular design.
When I first began reviewing laptops for my job as a computer journalist, the TUF Gaming F15 gave me a sense of what gaming laptops were like. The 2.3-kilogram device is light enough to carry in a backpack, but its bulky dimensions make it difficult to stow away in a suitcase. It’s a mix of the old and the new, and it’s a sight to behold.
It meets MIL-STD hardness requirements while still being visually pleasing. There is a distinct TUF logo on the back of the laptop, which adds to its stylish appearance. The notebook is finished in grey and has a honeycomb pattern on the bottom and a smooth texture to the right and left of the keyboard.
On the TUF Gaming F15, there is a Thunderbolt 4/USB-C connector. Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6 are also included, as is a 720p webcam with a microphone.
The keyboard and touchpad
The key travel on the RGB keyboard is generous, and this results in a satisfying typing experience. The keys are comfortable and responsive without being overly noisy, as I discovered during my testing.
Show off your abilities
N156HRA-EA1 is the model number of the Full HD IPS panel on the ASUS TUF F15 (FX506) (CMN1521). A laptop’s screen becomes Retina when it is viewed from a distance of 60 cm (24′′) or more, which is the typical viewing distance for a laptop.
It can be viewed from a variety of angles. Photographs taken at a 45-degree angle are used to evaluate image quality.
The screen’s maximum brightness was 306 nits, and the average brightness was 278 nits across the entire area, with a maximum variance of 14%.
The display’s uniformity is depicted in the diagram below.
You should avoid dE2000 values greater than 4.0 if you intend to use the laptop for color-sensitive applications. We are impressed by the high contrast ratio of 1480:1.
To make sure we’re on the same page, we’d like to give you a brief introduction to the sRGB color gamut and Adobe RGB.
Many HDTV and web viewers use the standard color gamut (sRGB) that can be seen inside the black triangle. For printing on professional cameras, monitors, and other devices, the Adobe RGB color space is used. Mainstream notebooks have a color quality and color accuracy that is dependent on the colors inside the black triangle.
DCI-P3 and digital UHD Rec.2020 color spaces have also been incorporated, the latter of which is commonly used by movie studios. On the other hand, Rec.2020 is still in the distant future, and current displays are unable to capture its full splendor. Also included is the Michael Pointer gamut, better known as Pointer’s gamut, which reflects the colors we see every day.
With a brightness of 140 cd/m2 and sRGB mode, our “Design and Gaming” setting provides the best color temperature (6500K) and brightness for gaming.
To check the display’s accuracy, we used 24 well-known colors, such as light and dark skin tones, blue skies, green grass, and so on. Both the “Design and Gaming” and “Factory” profiles yield the same results.
The ASUS TUF F15 (FX506scores) with the default settings (left) and the “Gaming and Web design” configuration (right) are shown in this comparison (right).
An important consideration when watching movies or playing video games in dimly lit environments is how well the display can reproduce dark areas of a picture.
The display’s luminance is on the vertical axis, while the grayscale is oriented horizontally. The two graphs below show you how well your display handles the deepest nuances.
performance and battery life
My primary concern is the notebook’s ability to perform in the real world. After I finished setting up the TUF Gaming F15 laptop, the first thing I did was open Chrome and begin browsing the internet. I also tried making a four-minute video on this system, which took about 30 seconds.
There are no concessions to be made in this notebook. A lot of power is hidden under the hood. My test model came equipped with an Intel Core i9-11900H processor clocked at 2.5GHz, 16GB of RAM, and an 11th generation M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD. The Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 with 8 GB of VRAM is included, as well as a powerful CPU.
Because of the 1080p screen resolution and 144Hz frame rate, every game I tried looked and played fantastically. Forza Horizon 4 and the Quake remake exceeded my expectations, despite the fact that flawless 60 fps action is difficult to achieve. At some point during my gaming, the fans started to get louder and the chassis got hot.
The TUF Gaming F15 got between four and five hours of battery life, which is decent. A good battery life is a given with this laptop.
the ability to disassemble and replace parts
In order to disassemble this laptop, you’ll need 11 Phillips-head screws removed. In the bottom right corner, as always, the bottom panel is still attached and slightly lifts the edge, so you can begin prying from there.
Unusual features include two M.2 NVMe ports and a 2.5-inch SATA drive bay. A 2.5-inch device cannot be used to expand the capacity of a larger battery configuration, even if it is available.
Both CPU and GPU have their own heat pipes, as well as a third heat pipe dedicated solely to graphics card cooling.
Summary of ASUS TUF F15 Price in BD
With an Intel Core i9-11900H processor, 16 GB of RAM, an Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics card, and a 1 TB solid-state drive, the ASUS TUF Gaming F15 is a powerful gaming laptop. Refresh rate is 144 Hz, reaction time is at least 5 milliseconds, and the color gamut is 60 percent sRGB on this 15.6-inch FHD (1920×1080) display. Single USB-A port on the right, while three USB-A ports, a single USB-C port and a DC-in power port are on the left side of the laptop.
Many of us have long wished for gaming laptops but have never been able to afford them because even entry-level models are so expensive. Gaming laptops have become a major draw in a rapidly expanding notebook category over a few months, particularly during the epidemic. Gaming laptops with high frame rates and a mid-tier Nvidia Geforce RTX GPU are now available for less than Rs 1 lakh. Yes, they are still pricey, but the cost has dropped significantly. After a few days with the TUF Gaming F15, here’s my take on the mid-range gaming laptop.
