Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 2021

Asus had the assumptions set high for gamers searching for a versatile, 14-inch gaming PC with the dispatch of the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 last year, and generally, the AMD Ryzen 4000-controlled minimized note pad followed through on the exhibition, save for the way that it turned out to be too hot to even think about utilizing. Thus, when the G14 got revived for the current year with the most recent Ryzen 9 5900HS, I needed to test it out to check whether it at last satisfied the guarantee of unadulterated, convenient gaming.

All things considered, it’s not difficult to pack the most requesting equipment inside a huge skeleton with loads of space to course hot air, however doing as such inside a confined 14-inch structure factor with the extra extravagant accessories of a gaming PC, that should mean something ASUS had the assumptions set high for gamers searching for a versatile, 14-inch gaming PC with the dispatch of the ROG Zephyrus G14 last year, and generally, the AMD Ryzen 4000-controlled minimized note pad followed through on the exhibition, save for the way that it turned out to be too hot to even think about utilizing.

Design and Build

Objectively, for machines that are relatively mediocre gray rectangles, the G14 is subjectively surprising. The design of the lid, the dots and the glossy nameplates in the corners are beautiful and textured, without too much scream; the completely slim internal display and well-layout keyboard won the game without deviating from work-friendliness Player’s trust.

The Case itself is hard and heavy, with a super sturdy top cover, which can basically prevent any screen bending. Although the keyboard base is not rock solid, it is strong enough to perform intense typing without excessive bending. The keyboard itself is pretty standard for laptops, but it’s good enough, and it’s not forced to use crazy layouts to accommodate multimedia keys. Although its trackpad is unobtrusive, it is still good.

The Slim notebook computer needs clever heat dissipation, and the G14 cleverly meets the ventilation needs of its handling bag by integrating a bracket on the cover. Turn it over, and the back of the stand is raised to increase airflow and provide a subtle angle for the keyboard to make long-term typing more comfortable.

ASUS did not use portability as an excuse to push USBC above all else. Although there is a USBC connection, which is expected and appreciated, there are many other ports. This is a very practical design.

Display & Audio

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2021) includes a 14-inch WQHD 120HzIPS display. You can choose the Full HD panel model while choosing the variant according to your needs. Buyers of the G14 last year had to choose between using a 120Hz1080p panel or a 60Hz1440p display. Asus understood that most people want both high resolution and high refresh rates. So buyers of the G14 (2021) will get a refresh rate of 120Hz in both configurations: 1080p and 1440p.

ThePanel itself is quite sharp and crispy. There is a minimal bezel around the display to provide an immersive content consumption experience. I had a much smoother experience when playing games at a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

From the front of the Audio, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (2021) boasts two bottom-launching speakers and two top-launching Twitter that make up a four-speaker set. Compared to other gaming laptops in the segment, the speakers are quite large and clear when watching TV shows.

Performance

Asus has doubled AMD again with the latest Zen 3 Ryzen 9 5900HS CPU instead of the Intel Tiger Lake H component. This particular processor replaces the Zephyrus G14’s Ryzen 9 4900 HS directly last year. The Blade 14 and the smaller ROG Flow X13 use slightly different unlocked Ryzen 9 5900HX and 5980HS, respectively.

The GPU option has an adjustable BAR and looks like a fix for the GeForce RTX 3060 without the 3070 or 3080 option. The maximum TGP (including Dynamic Boost) is only 80W on laptops like the Blade 14 or Aorus 17 compared to over 100W, so the Zephyrus G14 has a slight performance penalty. The MaxQ Monica is more likely, but when dealing with these small form factor gaming laptops, the legacy remains.

RAM is soldered to DDR43200 of 8GB or 16GB depending on SKU with 1 SODIMM expansion slot.

To achieve the highest possible score, the device was put into turbo mode via ArmoryCrate before running the following performance benchmarks. Owners should be familiar with ArmoryCrate software as key features such as fan control, lighting, performance and more can all be toggled here.

Speakers

Zephyrus G14’s speakers are better than expected considering their 14-inch form factor. In fact, this system has two 2.5W regular speakers and two 0.7W tweeters, unlike most other laptops that only have stereo speakers. So the audio is much more balanced between the low and high frequency ranges. However, if you are trying to fill a larger space, chances are the maximum volume will be a bit louder.

The keyboard

has the same key size and feedback as last year’s model. We prefer the G14 input experience to the Blade 14 as the keys have all the deeper travel and stronger feedback. Conversely, the keyboard here only supports a single area white backlight compared to Razer’s unique RGB lighting.

The layout of some auxiliary functions has changed every year. For example, the keyboard backlight brightness control has been moved to the top line, switching the backlight, and the new “Aura” key has replaced the fast forward key.

Touchpad

Precision Clickpad is smaller than the Blade 14 (10.5 x 6 cm large 11.1 x 7.6 cm). Cursor control is still soft and has a bit of sticking when the integrated mousekeys glide slowly with shallow and inadequate feedback.
